The new title is called _God of War Laufey_ , and is once again developed by Sony’s Santa Monica Studio. Currently, the game doesn’t have a date, but it’s coming to the PS5 whenever it does launch. This time, instead of perpetually furious dad Kratos, players will take control of Faye / Laufey, as the title implies. That means that while the tone of the game seems somewhat similar to past _God of War_ titles, the gameplay looks quite different, with much more aerobatic action punctuated by magic instead of Kratos’ heavy violence. Also, there’s a giant, six-legged cat that can fly. And a talking gelatinous cube named Phranque that fights alongside you. The game’s cast also includes Jack Quaid as Phranque and Perlina Lau as Rue, the talking ribbons attached Faye’s sword. Ever since [a soft reboot in 2018](/2018/4/12/17223854/god-of-war-review-ps4), _God of War_ has become one of Sony’s tentpole series, on par with the likes of _The Last of Us_ and the _Horizon_ games. A sequel, _[Ragnarök](/23437043/god-of-war-ragnarok-review-sony-ps5)_ , launched on the PS5 in 2022, and the series is also being turned into [a live-action streaming show on Prime Video](/streaming/886008/amazon-god-of-war-kratos-image).
